Selecting the relevant membrane on a site-specific basis requires a site specific risk assessment, especially for VOC sites. Simplistic assessments may overestimate risk by many orders of magnitude, whilst incorrect specification may not meet the design life of the building.
Proprietary gas membrane may need to be specified having full regard to the gas/vapour concerned, the material it is manufactured from, its physical properties (tensile strength, puncture resistance) and permeability to the gas in question. The membrane thickness is a key parameter if joints are to be welded whilst adequate protection of the membrane is required to ensure that installed gas membranes have retained their integrity following the build sequences of follow-on trades.
This ~90min recording is of a Technical Briefing Webinar originally delivered on the 5th July 2019 and includes the Q&A session at the end of the webinar (Note: only access to the recording will be provided. The original handouts are not included). The webinar was delivered by Steve Wilson who is Technical Director of the Environmental Protection Group (EPG) Limited. Steve has authored numerous technical papers and publications and provided training relating to gassing issues over many years. Steve will provide insight into specifying appropriate gas membranes on a site specific basis.
