Increasingly this is being done within a context of sustainable development and specifically sustainable brownfield regeneration.

Site Investigations

Where a preliminary risk assessment suggests that significant risk may exist or that large uncertainties exist in the conceptual site model (CSM), site investigation activities may be needed characterise the risks and resolve the uncertainties by collecting and analysing soil or groundwater samples or conducting in situ measurements.

LQM have considerable experience in designing and implementing appropriate site investigations, which are cost-effective but generate sufficient quality and quantity of data to adequately characterise the site and allow a subsequent robust risk assessment to be conducted.  In particular, LQM specialise in investigations at complex sites - often when others have failed to deliver - and in the application of cutting edge investigation, analysis techniques and monitoring methods in order to deliver definitive data that will satisfy regulators.

Benefits of an LQM site investigation:

  • LQM provide clients with detailed designs (sampling and analytical strategies) prior to works commencing in order to agree cost and scope of the investigation;
  • LQM recognise the importance of high quality site work and have procedures in place to ensure samples are collected in line with good practice;
  • LQM have experience of undertaking works at contentious sites and are well versed in ensuring good relations with site occupiers;
  • LQM have a team of research trained scientists who can collate and analyse both qualitative and quantitative information generated from site investigations
  • LQM produce a "factual report" that describes in detail all site works and presents results of all testing and monitoring
  • LQM, unlike most other consultants, also include basic analysis and interpretation of the data, including relevant graphical representations such as:
    • Collation and manipulation of data from diverse sources
    • Incorporation of data into GIS models
    • Graphical presentation of data variability spatially and with depth
    • Statistical validity and outlier interpretation
    • Data management for geological information to generate cross sections and query the data
    • Geostatistical modelling and assessment

The use of these diverse techniques allows us to maximise the information extracted from your expensive data. To achieve this we use a wide range of electronic formats to seamlessly and accurately parse information between different software applications and analysis packages without the need to transcribe hardcopy data.
