Preliminary Risk Assessment
A Preliminary risk assessment (Phase 1) should be the initial step in any assessment of land contamination.
A phase 1 report will draw upon all available information, data and reports, as well as a site visit, in order to develop an initial conceptual site model (CSM) that identifies suspected contaminants and locations, likely ground conditions and the risks these may pose. A robust and coherent CSM is needed to determine what to test for, what samples are needed and from where in order to design an adequate, appropriate and cost-effective site investigation. LQM's Phase 1 report and the CSM it contains will be the key to ensuring that subsequent risk management activities generate value for money and minimising future surprises.
Benefits of a LQM Phase 1:
LQM provide clear comprehensive Phase 1 reports, which include descriptions of the desk study and walkover, a preliminary risk assessment and, if necessary, recommendations for further work to address the assumptions and uncertainties identified;
Our Phase 1 reports stand out due to the scientific background of our staff, which allows detailed analysis using state-of-the art software and techniques to ensure that the maximum value is extracted from of all pre-existing information;
LQM use state of the art KeyCSM software to develop the CSM and provide it in an understandable and updateable format. Potential pollutant linkages and uncertainties are clearly identified paving the way for a cost effective and well designed site investigation.
