Senior Environmental Scientist

Andy Gillett is a senior environmental scientist at LQM employed within the Contaminated Land Group of the company.

He holds a degree in Geophysics, MSc in Environmental Science and PhD in the modeling of crop-environment interactions. This was followed up by four years post doc work on the spatial and temporal modeling of radioactive contaminants through the environment within Europe. He is a member of the International Union of Radioecology and Affiliate Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

Since joining LQM in May 2000 he has worked on the following major Contaminated Land and Waste Management  projects:

• Revision of the SNIFFER Framework for deriving numeric targets to minimise the adverse human health effects of long-term exposure to contaminants in soil (Scottish Environment Protection Agency).
• Technical Guidance on Landfill Gas (Environment Agency)
• Landfill Gas Engine Exhaust and Flare Emissions (Biogas Association / EB Nationwide)
• Estimating the Arisings of Specific Waste Streams (Environment Agency)
• GasSim - development of the health and environmental risk effects from landfill gas framework (Phase 2) (Environment Agency)
• Development of Guidance on effects of gas cleanup on emissions from landfill gas utilisation equipment (Environment Agency)
• Update on methane emissions from landfill sites for IPPC requirements (DEFRA)
