LQM have been involved in producing a wide-range of publications; some of which are published by LQM, some by other organisations and some via our publishing division - Land Quality Press. Many of these publications are described below, but others are described elsewhere on this site, including KeyCSM
LQM have published two editions of the now widely-used LQM/CIEH Generic Assessment Criteria; the first in 2006 and the second in 2009.
The latest version includes Generic Assessment Criteria (GAC) for an extended range of 81 substances. For each substance, GAC have been derived for a range of generic land uses and Soil Organic Matter contents and all toxicological and physical-chemical data inputs used in the derivation of the GAC are presented and discussed in the publication
Full details of these publications, how to order the latest edition or download the Frequently Asked Questions documents can be obtained here.

The Contaminated Land
Management: Ready Reference was published
jointly by LQM Press and EPP Publications in 2002 in an updateable
looseleaf format.
It provides professionals with a one-volume compendium of key facts,
techniques, considerations and potential pitfalls involved in the
assessment and management of the risks associated with contaminated
land. It presents the management process in a logical sequence with
essential reference material at every step and acts as a screen to
identify risk management options.
Updates, which can be purchased separately for owners of the 2002
version of the manual, were issued in 2007 focusing on
Remediation. Further updates addressing some of the changes
in
risk management are planned for 2010.
Copies can be ordered online directly from EPP Publications. Delegates attending any of LQM's training courses can also pre-purchase copies for collection during the course at preferential rates via the relevant course booking form.

This book looks at the rapidly changing policy and technological developments applicable to contaminated land management and the need for input from a number of scientific and engineering disciplines. The 1st section discusses site characterisation and the design of site investigations, and the central role of conceptual models and risk assessment in decision making. While section 2 discusses how risks from contaminated land are managed and the role of different remediation approaches.

Casting Technologies International, the foundry industry research association, in association with LQM, has developed guidance on the land contamination issues associated with foundries. The report aims to : i. inform regulators and policy makers about foundries to assist them in fulfilling their statutory duties; ii. educate developers on contamination issues that may need to be addressed at sites occupied by, or near to, former foundries; iii. assist foundries in devising strategies for site risk management to prevent or minimise the potential for land contamination from current and future activities, as well as to manage existing contamination risks; iv. Present information for other interested parties (eg property purchasers, banks, insurance companies) who may have to make decisions regarding land that has historically been used by, or affected by, foundry operations.
Copies can be downloaded directly from the Castings Technology International website.

This volume provides a one-stop reference for the analysis and delivery of contaminated land samples and subsequent presentation of the data. Problems of analysis and solutions are provided, along with a chapter on the new techniques of ecotoxicity measurement. This book is suitable for environmental consultants, analytical chemists, environmental chemists, laboratory managers, ecotoxicologists and environmental regulators. The book has been edited by K. Clive Thompson of Alcontrol Laboratories and Paul Nathanail of LQM and published by Blackwell Publishing.
